Please take note of the following:
CLASSWORK
1. Students are encouraged to have a book on hand to read at school. They have been assigned a book review that is due on Friday, Oct. 10. They do have the template to complete the book review. They have been reading at school each day in class. We'll also start library this week on Day 3s giving students the opportunity to sign out library books. In literacy, the class wrote out spelling list 1 which is located in google stream. They will have a Spelling test on Mon. Sept. 22. Both grades are in the middle of writing a biography about a classmate. They also wrote reading responses to prepare for the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation at the end of the month. To prepare for their reading tests, students have reviewed how to answer questions and will look at writing summaries as well as the components of fiction and non-fiction texts. In Drama, the class is presenting their first assignment - a welcome handshake. Their marks are posted in google classroom. In Math, both grades have received curriculum expectations and are working through expectations. To date, we have covered ordering, comparing and representing large numbers. The grade 6s are looking at integers. Both grades reviewed making equivalent fractions last Friday. PLEASE NOTE - students have knowledgehook accounts where math has been assigned for them to complete in addition to work in their blue math folders. THEIR FOLDERS are marked periodically with the expectation that corrections will be made to their work. In Socials, the grade 5s are looking at the Government and People while the grade 6s are looking at Canada's connections in the world community. Students are working through their first art assignment which involves perspective. Great job Grade 5/6s!
