Please take note of the following:
SCHOOL DAYS
1. Please note Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6 are statutory holidays. As a result, we have 2 short weeks ahead.
CLASSWORK
2. Students have commenced Number Operation Expectations in class. The grade 6s looked at divisibility rules and Finding the % of Whole Numbers, while the grade 5s added whole numbers with digits in the hundredths place value and multiplying whole numbers by .1 and .01. We will continue our learning next week. Please see math overview for the week posted in google classroom for a review of these concepts. Students are reminded to correct their math work, when errors occur, and to complete assigned activities in knowledgehook that have not been completed. In Literacy, students reviewed text features and practiced writing a summary of a passage. They also practiced writing researched information in their own words. We are still reading on epic and students continue to return and sign out books at the school library. The new spelling list, list 7, is now available on the stream tab in google classroom. For Earth Hour, we brainstormed ideas about an eco-friendly school and completed a writing assignment about environmentally friendly practices for school. In Social Studies, both classes were able to pause and reflect about treaties Canada has with First Nation Peoples. That conservation will continue as we gain a fuller understanding of what it means to be Canadian through that lens.
Thanks,
Purboo
