Please take note of the following
CLASSWORK
1. We spent a fair bit of time last week on fractions, reviewing their notation, improper fractions, mixed numbers, representing fractions, benchmark fractions and making equal fractions. Students also worked with a partner on solving their first word problem in financial literacy. This week, we will shift to decimal tenths and hundredths, as well as the thousandths for the grade 6s. We will also reviewing rounding decimals. Note: it is very important for students to correct errors in their work. AT THE END OF THIS LEARNING, students can expect a test which should take place the week after. In Social Studies, students are still completing their reflection on the land as a way of knowing and reflecting on how to have a reciprocal relationship with the land. In Social Studies, the gr. 5s are examining the Municipal level of government while the grade 6s are looking at being responsible as a citizen and researching a global issue. In Art, we will be making flags to celebrate Journee Franco-Ontarienne. Most students have completed their perspective drawing which are posted in our class. In language, students are completing a book review that is due Friday, Oct. 10. They will be assigned week 3 in penmanship next week too. Students are reading either I am not a Number or We were all alone (both are Indigenous texts to give context to the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.) In Writing, students are encouraged to complete their short biography of a classmate which we've posted outside of our classroom. Some students have complete acrostic poems about Responsibility which are also posted outside of our learning community. In Drama, there are a few students who are working on presenting their handshake to help us get to know them. PLEASE NOTE - marks are being posted in google classroom on a regular basis.
