Please take note of the following:
CLASSWORK
1. We are moving onto Operations in Math class. Students in grade 5 should recall multiplication facts up to 12 x 12 to move onto multiplying whole numbers by .1 and .01. They will also be estimating sums and differences with whole and decimal numbers up to hundredths.The grade 5s will also add and subtract numbers up to 100 000 this week. Whereas, the grade 6s will study divisibility rules and calculate the percentages of whole numbers for class practice. The gr. 6s will also represent composite numbers as a product of their prime factors. Note: marks for geometry tests have been added to google classroom. Students that were absent for the test will be writing the test upon their return during the week of Mar. 23. In Spelling, Students wrote spelling test 6. They will be completing the spelling test corrections on Monday, and or writing the spelling test if they missed it. In Reading, we completed a text feature match in class and are practicing how to summarize researched facts in our own words. I will be checking that students completed the assignment, Pass the Spelling Assignment on Monday, Mar. 23. We have moved onto typing practice. The link is posted in google classroom for students to complete. Students are also encouraged to read on epic, or to bring their own reading material to school to read. In Social Studies, both groups of students are completing learning in their separate units of study. All marks are being posted in google classroom as students complete tasks with corrections, when possible. Note: both grade 5 and 6 students brought home a lot of term 1 work before the March Break.
SCHOOL EVENTS
2. We will be shifting our focus to Earth Hour and Earth day this week and completing activities around these upcoming events. Please, consider practicing how you can conserve and or reduce at home.
3. Please review the Friday Flash that was sent via the school before the March Break.
