Please note the following:
SCHOOL EVENTS
1. As communicated through Friday Flash, it is Pink day on Wed. April 8. Our school community is encouraged to wear pink. Also note below:
Special Workshop: Get REAL Inclusivity - As part of our Pink Shirt Day activities, our Grade 6–8 students will participate in a workshop led by Get REAL, an organization dedicated to fostering empathy and respect in schools. During this interactive session, speakers will use the power of storytelling to build authentic connections and deepen understanding of 2SLGBTQ+ realities. Students will gain practical tools to be better allies and learn how to foster a culture of belonging. Grounded in positive representation, the workshop helps students see the value of diverse identities and finding confidence in who they are. The gr. 5/6 workshop is scheduled for the afternoon.
2. The grade 8s are selling chips as part of their fundraising for their graduation. Chips are on sale for $2 on Thursdays at lunch.
3. CLASSWORK
Students will be writing a MATH TEST on Friday, April 10. We have been looking at Number Operations. I will give students a checklist of all math expectations that Friday's test will cover upon our return Tuesday, April 7. Thereafter studens are strongly encouraged to be working on knowledghook activities as well as all in-class assignments. Students also need to correct their mistakes in classwork and routinely review what they are learning, especially if absences occur. Final Operation expectations will be taught on Tuesday. Thereafter, we will commence a mini unit on probability and then start measurement expectations. In Socials, students paused to discuss and learn about vocabulary terms like diversity, cultures, and what it means to be Canadian. We resume our regular learning next week. In ART, students drew pictures of their favorite outdoor spaces that they found calming. In Language, students learned about text structures in reading. They are also writing down list 7 spelling words. Note: we conclude typing practice at the end of this week. Students received marks back for their Eco-friendly school and recorded feedback in their folders. They will receive marks back for the paragraph they wrote about a figure in history using their own words.
Thanks,
Purboo
