Week of Oct. 14 - 17 Blog 5 (Grade 5/6)

Please take note of the following:

CLASSES

1. Music for the grade 6s will be starting shortly. As such, the grade 5s will commence music too. I will be teaching grade 5s in my class as well as grade 5s in Mme Satdeo's class every day 1 after lunch.

SCHOOL EVENTS

2. Please read Friday Flash sent by the school office to stay up to date with school events.

3. This Friday is our Annual Terry Fox Run.

4. Oct. 29 is our School Photo Day.

CLASSWORK

5. Students will be receiving their math tests back between Oct. 14 and Oct. 15. We are currently finishing our focus on decimal numbers (tenths, hundredths, and thousandths.) We will be doing some review work this week like rounding decimals. TEST - students will be writing a short quiz on this content this Friday, Oct. 17. NOTE - most students have done a wonderful job correcting their math corrections in their math doutangs. They also have math activities posted on knowledgehook to practice math skills that are being introduced, taught and reviewed in class. In Language, students have list 2. They were assigned a writing task of creating a story using any 7 of list 2 words. They should add a title, underline spelling words in their story and edit their work to ensure clearly expressed ideas. This spelling assignment is due by Oct. 17. We are doing well with library exchange at school. Students have library exchange today. In Media, we have talked about interacting safely online with others. We are near to wrapping up work around parts of speech. In Social Studies, the grade 5s are looking at governing systems of Aboriginal Peoples while the grade 6s have moved onto the UN and Canada's partnership there. All work around Human Rights and Violations should be done.

REMINDERS

6. There are a few families completing start of year forms. Please complete and return to school asap.

Thanks,

Purboo
