Week of Mar. 9 - 13 Blog 24 (Grade 5/6)

Please take note of the following:

CLASSWORK

1. We are concluding work in Geometry this week. Students worked on transformations (translations, reflections and rotations) last Thursday and Friday. After much effort, there is success but students still do need to review these math concepts. Further review is available on knowledgehook. It is very important students complete assigned math activities on this platform please. Corrections to mistakes made is key to confirm learning. As well, this is a reminder that students will need to collect and complete work missed due to absences at school. THERE IS A MATH TEST on Friday, Mar. 13 in Geometry for both grades. In Literacy, some students submitted corrections to their black history comparison report. We were working on presenting ideas clearly, adding a bibliography as well as adding sufficient punctuation to organize our ideas. The final criteria was to present researched information in their own ideas. Next, most students completed their list 6 story assignment - Pass the Story. Note - some students have moved onto typing practice while others are working on penmanship. We have read 3500 books on epic between the 2 English classes. Way to go! In reading, we will conclude our work around how text features support our understanding of passages we have read. In Social Studies, some grade 6 students are still submitting latitude and longitude tasks, others are working on identifying the geographic location of First Nations communities across Canada. The grade 5s moved on to complete a venn diagram that compares the role of women, men, elders or children from the past to today.
