Week of Jan. 12 - 16 Blog 16 (Grade 5/6)

Please take note of the following:

TRIP

1. Thank you for responding to the trip notice. If you haven't already done so, PLEASE do so as the trip is on Wednesday of this week.

SCHOOL EVENTS

2. There is NO school this Friday, Jan. 16.

TESTS

3. There is a spelling test for list 4 on Monday, Jan. 12. Google classroom has been updated with math content covered in class last week. Therefore, we will be having a unit test this Thursday, Jan. 15 to assess DATA MANAGEMENT. WE HAVE BEEN reviewing graphs, and math content everyday in class. Students are STRONGLY encouraged to correct work in their blue math folders to prepare for the unit test. They should also be completing Data Management practice questions posted in knowledgehook.

CLASSWORK

4. Many students have completed their responsibility poems to encourage student leaders in our school. They look great! We will now ground learning in literacy around Black history Month. In Social Studies, grade 5 students will be starting a project about how to solve problems in Canada utilizing the resources at each level of government. Resources and links are being posted in google classroom. The grade 6s are learning about The World Health Organization, and Canada's response to World Health Concerns. In Art, work will now be centered around sketching and Black History Month. NOTE - we are cycling back to decimals  (hundredths and thousandths) this week, rounding decimals, comparing and ordering them.

LITERACY WEEK

5. Please sign up, if possible, to read to our class. The link went out on Friday in Friday Flash. Literacy Week is Jan. 19 at school.

Thanks,

Purboo
